Commission - The Brave Little Toaster
This was probably the most fun commission I have done in a while. I loved this movie as a kid and it was a blast bringing all these characters to life. I sculpted each piece separately so I could sand and paint each one before gluing it all together. I don’t normally sculpt characters this small so it was quite a challenge for my eyes!
Materials : Super Sculpey, Sculpey Firm, Apoxie Sculpt, Wire and Foil Armature, Acrylic Paints, Wood base
Dimensions : 7” tall on a 9x7” base
Time Taken : 16 Hours
Want to learn how to sculpt like I do? My new book Creature Sculpt is now available! Check out all the information here!
COMMISSIONS WILL REOPEN IN LATE JULY! New orders will once again be taken on a first come first serve basis in late July. Specific date and time will be announced later. To be fair to everyone, I do not keep a waiting list. To read my commission policy, pricing, and information on how to get a slot, go here.
OMG, one of my favorite childhood movies ever. O_O What a unique sculpture, and the characters look so spot on in this, I love it!
No, I mean it. This woman’s *mouth*.
Can’t resist another reblog. This song really ate my brain. Such a fitting piece for the Cloud Atlas trailer. It’s just a shame it wasn’t in the actual movie. :-)
Mycena chloropos - Bioluminescent fungi
This strange fungus is one of nature’s many examples of bioluminescence. Both its stem and cap, which are whitish brown in the light, shine with an eerie green light in the dark. Its mycelia, which resemble a plant’s roots, are not bioluminescent.
It is found in forests in Japan, Sri Lanka, Brazil, and Australia.
Although bizarre, bioluminescence isn’t rare in fungi, as there are more than 70 species that exhibit the trait.

Mechanima for Jay Miller (Tumblr | Deviantart)
Here’s the first prize I’ve completed from our Taffetas Winter Contest!
Mechanima is a to-be science-fiction adventure that stars a brash military robot gone rogue, Rafe, and his eight-year-old mechanic Alex.
I tried to pay attention to some details here, especially in the difference between Rafe and Alex in that one is a robot and the other is human. Jay mentioned in some questionnaire that one of Rafe’s dead give-aways as an andriod is he produces no body heat, so he doesn’t have a breath in cold weather like Alex and his skin is starting to to freeze over (there’s even little icicles on his chin :B).
Also It’s Jay’s birthday today and I’m happy to have JUST made it in time :)!
